The Batman to feature The Eternals star Barry Keoghan as Stanley Merkel in Robert Pattinson starrer August 24, 2020 at 04:07PM

The first trailer of The Batman starring Robert Pattinson as a caped crusader was released during the DC Fandome event on August 22, 2020. Bringing Gotham city back to life, director Matt Reeves showcased the new Batsuit and Batmobile along with Catwoman, Alfred, Commissioner Gordon, and Riddler.

It has now been revealed that Marvel's The Eternals actor Barry Keoghan has been roped in as Officer Stanley Merkel in the film. His name was mentioned in the trailer description. Keoghan, who is set to star as Druid in MCU, will be Jim Gordon's partner in Gotham City Police Department. Merkel made the first appearance in the comics in 1987's Batman #405.

Zoë Kravitz stars as Selina Kyle; Paul Dano as Edward Nashton, Jeffrey Wright as the GCPD’s James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gotham D.A. Gil Colson, Barry Keoghan as Officer Stanley Merkel, Jayme Lawson as mayoral candidate Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred and Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot.

The Batman is written by Matt Reeves & Peter Craig. Reeves and Dylan Clark are producing the film, with Simon Emanuel, Michael E. Uslan, Walter Hamada, and Chantal Nong Vo serving as executive producers.

Based on characters from DC. Batman was created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger. The Batman is set to open in theaters on October 1, 2021.

As the Maharashtra government announced some ease in lockdown restrictions, many films have resumed their shoots. Late actor Rishi Kapoor's last film Sharmaji Namkeen has also gone on floors. Rishi played the central character in the movie and passed away on April 30, last year. His remaining portions of the film were taken over by veteran actor Paresh Rawal. Paresh Rawal started shooting for the remaining portions in March this year. However, with the second wave of the novel coronavirus, the shoot came to a halt again. According to a daily, Paresh Rawal has resumed the shoot for an important sequence at a school in Goregaon, Mumbai which also features Juhi Chawla and Satish Kaushik. The team along with Paresh Rawal will shoot for a week-long schedule, after which the movie will wrap up and go for the post-production process.
