Salman Khan is loved not just for his on-screen avatar and super hit films but also for his social work. His organization ‘Being Human’ has been praised all over for improving the conditions of many. And now, another significant contribution of the superstar has come to light.

In February this year, Salman Khan had announced on his Instagram page that he has collaborated with Gurugram-based Elan group, run by Akash Kapoor and Ravish Kapoor, for adopting the Khidrapur village in Maharashtra. It is situated in the Kolhapur district and is famous for the Kopeshwar Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. This village was ravaged by the floods last year and Salman announced that they’ll be rebuilding the home of those affected by it.

A few days ago, Rajendra Patil Yadravkar, cabinet minister in the Maharashtra government, tweeted that the work on 70 affected houses has finally begun. The tweet also mentioned Salman Khan. He also posted a series of pictures which showed the minister doing a ‘bhoomipujan’ ceremony. The district collector Daulat Desai can also be seen in one of the pictures. According to a report, the state government has given Rs. 95,000 for the construction of each of the houses. The rest of the expenses will be borne by Salman Khan and Elan Foundation. Akash Kapoor that all those whose houses were destroyed would get a residence measuring 250 square feet each.

The sarpanch of the village, Haider Khan Mokashi stated that the villagers are extremely happy with this development. They said that they are proud of Salman Khan for helping this tiny hamlet situated in a corner of the state.

Salman Khan will next be seen in the action-packed film, Radhe – Your Most Wanted Bhai. It was to be released on Eid 2020 but due to the Coronavirus-induced lockdown, it has been postponed indefinitely. Before that, he’ll be seen on the TV as the host of 'Bigg Boss Season 14' in October.

Tandav controversy: Supreme Court refuses to grant protection from arrest to makers; says freedom of speech is not absolute January 27, 2021 at 04:37PM

On Wednesday while hearing pleas seeking stay on FIRs against actors and producers of the web series Tandav , the Supreme Court said that freedom of speech is not absolute. A bench headed by Ashok Bhushan said that the petitioners should go to the high courts to seek quashing of these cases. The court also refused to grant protection from arrest to the makers of Tandav against whom FIRs have been filed. The case was heard by a bench of justices Ashok Bhushan, RS Reddy and MR Shah. Senior advocates Fali S Nariman, Mukul Rohatgi and Siddharth Luthra cited the recent judgement of the top court in Arnab Goswami's case during the hearing. "Is this way liberty should be protected in the country and FIRs are being filed across the country," Luthra said adding that the director of the web series, Ali Abbas Zafar, is being harassed. Paresh Rawal replaces Rishi Kapoor and resumes shoot for Sharmaji Namkeen June 30, 2021 at 04:06PM

As the Maharashtra government announced some ease in lockdown restrictions, many films have resumed their shoots. Late actor Rishi Kapoor's last film Sharmaji Namkeen has also gone on floors. Rishi played the central character in the movie and passed away on April 30, last year. His remaining portions of the film were taken over by veteran actor Paresh Rawal. Paresh Rawal started shooting for the remaining portions in March this year. However, with the second wave of the novel coronavirus, the shoot came to a halt again. According to a daily, Paresh Rawal has resumed the shoot for an important sequence at a school in Goregaon, Mumbai which also features Juhi Chawla and Satish Kaushik. The team along with Paresh Rawal will shoot for a week-long schedule, after which the movie will wrap up and go for the post-production process.
