Released in 2019, Gully Boy, helmed by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti, not only broke all box office records but also went on to carve a special place in the hearts of the audience. The film paved a way for Hindi hip-hop music and brought a lot of underground artists to the limelight.

Today, Zoya Akhtar, Reema Kagti's 'Tiger Baby Films' launch the 'The Gully Groove Challenge' on social media, to call upon users to create a reel video of 30 seconds of the super hit song from the movie ‘Apna Time Aayega’ to express themselves creatively. This could involve rapping, dancing, running, driving, cooking — whatever they can imagine.

Speaking about the same, Zoya shares, "The power of social media is phenomenal. It connected me to Neazy and Divine and now I hope their sound can connect me to you. Celebrating music and individuality with the Gully Groove challenge. Looking forward to seeing what you have got.”

The Top 10 reels will win a limited edition Gully Boy Vinyl along with signed notes by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti!

Zoya Akhtar directed Gully Boy starred Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. The film received the Best Asian Film award at Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN). She was also bestowed with the NETPAC Best Asian Film in 2019 and many other accolades/awards.

Tandav controversy: Supreme Court refuses to grant protection from arrest to makers; says freedom of speech is not absolute January 27, 2021 at 04:37PM

On Wednesday while hearing pleas seeking stay on FIRs against actors and producers of the web series Tandav , the Supreme Court said that freedom of speech is not absolute. A bench headed by Ashok Bhushan said that the petitioners should go to the high courts to seek quashing of these cases. The court also refused to grant protection from arrest to the makers of Tandav against whom FIRs have been filed. The case was heard by a bench of justices Ashok Bhushan, RS Reddy and MR Shah. Senior advocates Fali S Nariman, Mukul Rohatgi and Siddharth Luthra cited the recent judgement of the top court in Arnab Goswami's case during the hearing. "Is this way liberty should be protected in the country and FIRs are being filed across the country," Luthra said adding that the director of the web series, Ali Abbas Zafar, is being harassed. Paresh Rawal replaces Rishi Kapoor and resumes shoot for Sharmaji Namkeen June 30, 2021 at 04:06PM

As the Maharashtra government announced some ease in lockdown restrictions, many films have resumed their shoots. Late actor Rishi Kapoor's last film Sharmaji Namkeen has also gone on floors. Rishi played the central character in the movie and passed away on April 30, last year. His remaining portions of the film were taken over by veteran actor Paresh Rawal. Paresh Rawal started shooting for the remaining portions in March this year. However, with the second wave of the novel coronavirus, the shoot came to a halt again. According to a daily, Paresh Rawal has resumed the shoot for an important sequence at a school in Goregaon, Mumbai which also features Juhi Chawla and Satish Kaushik. The team along with Paresh Rawal will shoot for a week-long schedule, after which the movie will wrap up and go for the post-production process.
