Pearl V Puri breaks his silence on alleged rape accusation for first time, says he trusts the law and judiciary of the country  June 28, 2021 at 01:00PM

In one of the shocking news, Television actor Pearl V Puri was arrested by Mumbai police for allegedly sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl in 2019. The victim's family accused the actor of the alleged rape of a minor. The actor was arrested, sent to judicial custody for 14 days and released on bail two weeks ago. For the first time since his arrest, the actor has finally spoken up and says he trusts the law will take its course.

In a statement released on his social media, Pearl V Puri said, "Life has its own way of testing people! I lost my nani ma few months back , then on her 17th day, I lost my dad post that my mother got diagnosed with cancer and then this ghastly accusation. Last couple of weeks were gruelling for me like a nightmare. I was, overnight, made to feel like a criminal. All of this in the midst of my mother's cancer treatment, it shattered my sense of security, making me feel helpless."

He further added, "I am still numb .... but I felt it's time to reach out to my friends, fans and well-wishers who've showered me with their love, support, and concern. Thank you for keeping faith in me and I am a firm believer of #Satyamevjayate. I trust in the Law, judiciary of my country & God up there. Please keep your dms coming!"

He captioned the post, "I feel blessed to have each one of y’all thank you for being my biggest strength. #teampvp."

Pearl V Puri was booked under Sections 376 AB (punishment for rape of woman under 12 years of age) of the Indian Penal Code, and Sections 4 (punishment for penetrative sexual assault), 8 (punishment for sexual assault), 12 (punishment for sexual harassment), 19 (reporting of offences) and 21 (punishment for failure to report or record a case) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.

Tandav controversy: Supreme Court refuses to grant protection from arrest to makers; says freedom of speech is not absolute January 27, 2021 at 04:37PM

On Wednesday while hearing pleas seeking stay on FIRs against actors and producers of the web series Tandav , the Supreme Court said that freedom of speech is not absolute. A bench headed by Ashok Bhushan said that the petitioners should go to the high courts to seek quashing of these cases. The court also refused to grant protection from arrest to the makers of Tandav against whom FIRs have been filed. The case was heard by a bench of justices Ashok Bhushan, RS Reddy and MR Shah. Senior advocates Fali S Nariman, Mukul Rohatgi and Siddharth Luthra cited the recent judgement of the top court in Arnab Goswami's case during the hearing. "Is this way liberty should be protected in the country and FIRs are being filed across the country," Luthra said adding that the director of the web series, Ali Abbas Zafar, is being harassed. Paresh Rawal replaces Rishi Kapoor and resumes shoot for Sharmaji Namkeen June 30, 2021 at 04:06PM

As the Maharashtra government announced some ease in lockdown restrictions, many films have resumed their shoots. Late actor Rishi Kapoor's last film Sharmaji Namkeen has also gone on floors. Rishi played the central character in the movie and passed away on April 30, last year. His remaining portions of the film were taken over by veteran actor Paresh Rawal. Paresh Rawal started shooting for the remaining portions in March this year. However, with the second wave of the novel coronavirus, the shoot came to a halt again. According to a daily, Paresh Rawal has resumed the shoot for an important sequence at a school in Goregaon, Mumbai which also features Juhi Chawla and Satish Kaushik. The team along with Paresh Rawal will shoot for a week-long schedule, after which the movie will wrap up and go for the post-production process.
