Dwayne Johnson to reunite with Chris Morgan for Red One June 29, 2021 at 05:35PM

Superstar Dwayne Johnson, popularly known as ‘The Rock’, is all set to star in the upcoming Chris Morgan film, Red One for Amazon Studios. The pair Dwayne and Chris will reunite after collaborating on the Fast and Furious spin-off, Hobbs and Shaw. The streaming service announced the upcoming project on June 28.

According to Variety, the upcoming film “entered the Amazon treaming service after a very competitive bidding process, which is another indication that Amazon focuses on more populist content. Its urge to produce more broadly appealing films comes as the streaming battles intensify, with new entrants such as HBO Max, Paramount Plus, and Disney Plus.”

Dwayne Johnson said in a statement, “Hold my Mana, because this is exciting. Our Seven Bucks is very bullish on our partnership with Amazon Studios; underpinned with some innovation, some pioneering, and a lot of positive energy and passion. I've been very impressed with [Amazon Studios chief] Jen Salke and her team's vision and ambition to create an enormous, fun, and unique 'Red One' holiday universe for families around the world to enjoy.”

Red One will be produced by Hiram Garcia, President of Seven Bucks Productions, which Dwayne Johnson co-founded with Dany Garcia. Morgan will produce as well as supervise the script.The film explores “a whole new universe to explore within the holiday genre.” The plan is to take the film on floors in 2022, with a holiday release in 2023.

Tandav controversy: Supreme Court refuses to grant protection from arrest to makers; says freedom of speech is not absolute January 27, 2021 at 04:37PM

On Wednesday while hearing pleas seeking stay on FIRs against actors and producers of the web series Tandav , the Supreme Court said that freedom of speech is not absolute. A bench headed by Ashok Bhushan said that the petitioners should go to the high courts to seek quashing of these cases. The court also refused to grant protection from arrest to the makers of Tandav against whom FIRs have been filed. The case was heard by a bench of justices Ashok Bhushan, RS Reddy and MR Shah. Senior advocates Fali S Nariman, Mukul Rohatgi and Siddharth Luthra cited the recent judgement of the top court in Arnab Goswami's case during the hearing. "Is this way liberty should be protected in the country and FIRs are being filed across the country," Luthra said adding that the director of the web series, Ali Abbas Zafar, is being harassed. As the Maharashtra government announced some ease in lockdown restrictions, many films have resumed their shoots. Late actor Rishi Kapoor's last film Sharmaji Namkeen has also gone on floors. Rishi played the central character in the movie and passed away on April 30, last year. His remaining portions of the film were taken over by veteran actor Paresh Rawal. Paresh Rawal started shooting for the remaining portions in March this year. However, with the second wave of the novel coronavirus, the shoot came to a halt again. According to a daily, Paresh Rawal has resumed the shoot for an important sequence at a school in Goregaon, Mumbai which also features Juhi Chawla and Satish Kaushik. The team along with Paresh Rawal will shoot for a week-long schedule, after which the movie will wrap up and go for the post-production process.
