Kanika Kapoor gets notice from Lucknow police to record statement amid her covid-19 recovery April 27, 2020 at 04:52PM

In March 2020, it was reported that Kanika Kapoor was diagnosed with Covid-19 after she returned from London. She had been in a Lucknow hospital and after several tests, her last two tests have come out negative and she was discharged a few days ago. She has been spending time with her family in Lucknow. Amid her recovery, she has been sent a notice by the police to record her statement in regards to her interacting with people after arriving from abroad.

Deepak Kumar Singh, ACP, Krishna Nagar said that she will have to come to the police station to give a written statement after which further proceedings will be carried out. The ‘Baby Doll’ singer has been charged under IPC Section 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) and Section 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) of the IPC.

In her latest statement that she shared on Instagram, Kanika Kapoor revealed that she was scanned at the international airport before she arrived in Mumbai on March 10. Until that time, officials had not issued a mandatory quarantine system. She reached Lucknow on March 11 to meet her family and there was no scanning system available for domestic flights. On March 14 and 15, she met a couple of friends for lunch and dinner. She also pointed out that all those people she interacted in Mumbai, Lucknow, and the UK have tested negative of coronavirus.

Tandav controversy: Supreme Court refuses to grant protection from arrest to makers; says freedom of speech is not absolute January 27, 2021 at 04:37PM

On Wednesday while hearing pleas seeking stay on FIRs against actors and producers of the web series Tandav , the Supreme Court said that freedom of speech is not absolute. A bench headed by Ashok Bhushan said that the petitioners should go to the high courts to seek quashing of these cases. The court also refused to grant protection from arrest to the makers of Tandav against whom FIRs have been filed. The case was heard by a bench of justices Ashok Bhushan, RS Reddy and MR Shah. Senior advocates Fali S Nariman, Mukul Rohatgi and Siddharth Luthra cited the recent judgement of the top court in Arnab Goswami's case during the hearing. "Is this way liberty should be protected in the country and FIRs are being filed across the country," Luthra said adding that the director of the web series, Ali Abbas Zafar, is being harassed. Paresh Rawal replaces Rishi Kapoor and resumes shoot for Sharmaji Namkeen June 30, 2021 at 04:06PM

As the Maharashtra government announced some ease in lockdown restrictions, many films have resumed their shoots. Late actor Rishi Kapoor's last film Sharmaji Namkeen has also gone on floors. Rishi played the central character in the movie and passed away on April 30, last year. His remaining portions of the film were taken over by veteran actor Paresh Rawal. Paresh Rawal started shooting for the remaining portions in March this year. However, with the second wave of the novel coronavirus, the shoot came to a halt again. According to a daily, Paresh Rawal has resumed the shoot for an important sequence at a school in Goregaon, Mumbai which also features Juhi Chawla and Satish Kaushik. The team along with Paresh Rawal will shoot for a week-long schedule, after which the movie will wrap up and go for the post-production process.
