After Ramayan and Mahabharat, Ramanand Sagar’s Shri Krishna to be re-aired on Doordarshan April 24, 2020 at 11:35AM

The demand for old shows has increased rapidly amid lockdown. With Ramayan and Mahabharat receiving immense viewership, Doordarshan has decided to re-air Shri Krishna. Prasad Bharati CEO Shashi Shekhar confirmed the news and said that it was “coming soon”.

The short promo shared by Prasad Bharati showcased glimpses of the several aspects that occurred in Krishna’s life from lifting Govardhan Hill to dancing on Kaliya Naag. The show, written, directed and produced by Ramanand Sagar, starred Swapnil Joshi as the young Krishna whereas Sarvadaman Banerjee played the older version of Lord Krishna. It aired from 1993 to 1996 on Doordarshan.

Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan concluded on April 18 on Doordarshan. The show received immense love on social media. With Mahabharat currently being aired, Shri Krishna will replace the slot of Ramayan.

Tandav controversy: Supreme Court refuses to grant protection from arrest to makers; says freedom of speech is not absolute January 27, 2021 at 04:37PM

On Wednesday while hearing pleas seeking stay on FIRs against actors and producers of the web series Tandav , the Supreme Court said that freedom of speech is not absolute. A bench headed by Ashok Bhushan said that the petitioners should go to the high courts to seek quashing of these cases. The court also refused to grant protection from arrest to the makers of Tandav against whom FIRs have been filed. The case was heard by a bench of justices Ashok Bhushan, RS Reddy and MR Shah. Senior advocates Fali S Nariman, Mukul Rohatgi and Siddharth Luthra cited the recent judgement of the top court in Arnab Goswami's case during the hearing. "Is this way liberty should be protected in the country and FIRs are being filed across the country," Luthra said adding that the director of the web series, Ali Abbas Zafar, is being harassed. Paresh Rawal replaces Rishi Kapoor and resumes shoot for Sharmaji Namkeen June 30, 2021 at 04:06PM

As the Maharashtra government announced some ease in lockdown restrictions, many films have resumed their shoots. Late actor Rishi Kapoor's last film Sharmaji Namkeen has also gone on floors. Rishi played the central character in the movie and passed away on April 30, last year. His remaining portions of the film were taken over by veteran actor Paresh Rawal. Paresh Rawal started shooting for the remaining portions in March this year. However, with the second wave of the novel coronavirus, the shoot came to a halt again. According to a daily, Paresh Rawal has resumed the shoot for an important sequence at a school in Goregaon, Mumbai which also features Juhi Chawla and Satish Kaushik. The team along with Paresh Rawal will shoot for a week-long schedule, after which the movie will wrap up and go for the post-production process.
