YouTuber Rashid Siddiqui opposes Akshay Kumar’s Rs. 500 crore defamation notice; cites freedom of speech in his response November 21, 2020 at 12:32PM

A few days back, Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar had served a defamation notice to a YouTuber who in his video claimed that the actor helped Rhea Chakraborty escape to Canada and is involved in the untimely death of late actor, Sushant Singh Rajput. Now, the Youtuber has opposed the defamation notice and has refused to pay Rs. 500 crore damages sought by Kumar. He claimed that there was nothing defamatory in his video.

YouTuber Rashid Siddiqui, who has a channel named FF News, urged Akshay Kumar to withdraw the notice failing which he would initiate appropriate legal proceedings against the actor.

Akshay Kumar, in his defamation notice sent through the law firm IC Legal, said that Rashid Siddiqui published several "defamatory, libelous and derogatory".

In his reply, Siddiqui claimed the allegations made by Akshay Kumar were "false, vexatious and oppressive and is raised with an intent to harass him". Siddiqui also claimed that every Indian citizen has the fundamental right to freedom of speech. “The news reported by Siddiquee was already in the public domain and he (Siddiqui) has placed reliance on other news channels as sources,” the reply stated. In his reply, he also questioned the delay in sending the defamation notice as the videos were uploaded in August 2020.

As the Maharashtra government announced some ease in lockdown restrictions, many films have resumed their shoots. Late actor Rishi Kapoor's last film Sharmaji Namkeen has also gone on floors. Sushant Singh Rajput case: Four key witnesses lay out details of what happened hours before the actor’s demise August 29, 2020 at 12:33PM

The CBI is currently investigating the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The investigating agency has been trying to piece together the events that transpired hours before the actor's unfortunate demise. Four key witnesses have described how the actor spent the last few hours. All the four witnesses lived with the actor in his Bandra apartment. The witnesses are: Siddharth Pithani (flat mate), Neeraj (house help), Keshav (cook) and housekeeper Deepesh Sawant. All four told the CBI that on the night of June 13, Sushant spent his time alone in his room. Deepesh Sawant was the first person to wake up on June 14.
