Producer Guild of India thanks Maharashtra CM for considering their request to continue work; share elaborate guidelines for shoot May 25, 2020 at 05:42PM

The Chief Minister of Maharashtra has considered the requests by the Film and TV industry to resume work with caution following all the guidelines in place. On Monday, the Producers Guild of India took to their Twitter handle to thank the Chief Ministers of Maharashtra for considering their request and even recommended SOPs which will be instituted whenever they are granted permission to resume production activities.

The document shared by the Producers Guild elaborately speaks on how they plan to go about the filmmaking process right from the pre-production stage to shooting to post-production. The document specifies guidelines separately for every department based on the nature of their job. 

They also mentioned general practices that will be followed by everyone which included sanitizing on entry and exit during shoot. Some of the other general guidelines are: 

  • Each crew member will be provided with a triple layer medical mask & gloves which will be mandatory to wear during the entire shoot.
  • Avoid handshakes, hugs and kisses and other physical greetings.
  • Designated people will only be allowed to open doors if any.
  • Sharing of cigarettes should be stopped on set / offices / studios.
  • Edible items used in scenes in which the actor has to consume either a beverage or food must be handled in a hygienic manner.

Tandav controversy: Supreme Court refuses to grant protection from arrest to makers; says freedom of speech is not absolute January 27, 2021 at 04:37PM

On Wednesday while hearing pleas seeking stay on FIRs against actors and producers of the web series Tandav , the Supreme Court said that freedom of speech is not absolute. A bench headed by Ashok Bhushan said that the petitioners should go to the high courts to seek quashing of these cases. The court also refused to grant protection from arrest to the makers of Tandav against whom FIRs have been filed. The case was heard by a bench of justices Ashok Bhushan, RS Reddy and MR Shah. Senior advocates Fali S Nariman, Mukul Rohatgi and Siddharth Luthra cited the recent judgement of the top court in Arnab Goswami's case during the hearing. "Is this way liberty should be protected in the country and FIRs are being filed across the country," Luthra said adding that the director of the web series, Ali Abbas Zafar, is being harassed. Paresh Rawal replaces Rishi Kapoor and resumes shoot for Sharmaji Namkeen June 30, 2021 at 04:06PM

As the Maharashtra government announced some ease in lockdown restrictions, many films have resumed their shoots. Late actor Rishi Kapoor's last film Sharmaji Namkeen has also gone on floors. Rishi played the central character in the movie and passed away on April 30, last year. His remaining portions of the film were taken over by veteran actor Paresh Rawal. Paresh Rawal started shooting for the remaining portions in March this year. However, with the second wave of the novel coronavirus, the shoot came to a halt again. According to a daily, Paresh Rawal has resumed the shoot for an important sequence at a school in Goregaon, Mumbai which also features Juhi Chawla and Satish Kaushik. The team along with Paresh Rawal will shoot for a week-long schedule, after which the movie will wrap up and go for the post-production process.
