Akshay Kumar and R Balki become the first to shoot outdoors ever since the lockdown started  May 25, 2020 at 08:14PM

Actor Akshay Kumar and filmmaker R Balki became the first to shoot during a lockdown. On Monday, they along with their crew shot for a government-approved ad to create awareness about post-lockdown responsibilities. The shoot was held at Mumbai's Kamalistan studio.

Shootings of films and TV projects had come to a halt a week before the nationwide lockdown. Reportedly, the shoot included minimum crew and they all followed the guidelines set by the government. 


Talking to a daily R Balki said that the ad is for the health ministry about our post lockdown responsibilities. He said that they got used to shooting with social distancing, sanitised outdoor sets, disinfectant screens, masks and more within minutes. 

Meanwhile, filmmakers have requested the Chief Minister of Maharashtra to allow shooting to resume with necessary precautions in place. The Producers Guild of India has also drafted new protocols for the film and TV industry, which will be followed once they receive a go-ahead from Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.

Tandav controversy: Supreme Court refuses to grant protection from arrest to makers; says freedom of speech is not absolute January 27, 2021 at 04:37PM

On Wednesday while hearing pleas seeking stay on FIRs against actors and producers of the web series Tandav , the Supreme Court said that freedom of speech is not absolute. A bench headed by Ashok Bhushan said that the petitioners should go to the high courts to seek quashing of these cases. The court also refused to grant protection from arrest to the makers of Tandav against whom FIRs have been filed. The case was heard by a bench of justices Ashok Bhushan, RS Reddy and MR Shah. Senior advocates Fali S Nariman, Mukul Rohatgi and Siddharth Luthra cited the recent judgement of the top court in Arnab Goswami's case during the hearing. "Is this way liberty should be protected in the country and FIRs are being filed across the country," Luthra said adding that the director of the web series, Ali Abbas Zafar, is being harassed. Paresh Rawal replaces Rishi Kapoor and resumes shoot for Sharmaji Namkeen June 30, 2021 at 04:06PM

As the Maharashtra government announced some ease in lockdown restrictions, many films have resumed their shoots. Late actor Rishi Kapoor's last film Sharmaji Namkeen has also gone on floors. Rishi played the central character in the movie and passed away on April 30, last year. His remaining portions of the film were taken over by veteran actor Paresh Rawal. Paresh Rawal started shooting for the remaining portions in March this year. However, with the second wave of the novel coronavirus, the shoot came to a halt again. According to a daily, Paresh Rawal has resumed the shoot for an important sequence at a school in Goregaon, Mumbai which also features Juhi Chawla and Satish Kaushik. The team along with Paresh Rawal will shoot for a week-long schedule, after which the movie will wrap up and go for the post-production process.
