From providing essential supplies to healthcare kits, here's how Amitabh Bachchan has been helping people during lockdown May 26, 2020 at 09:48PM

Apart from being at the forefront of public awareness for Doctors, Essential workers and the Centre and State Governments for India, superstar Mr Amitabh Bachchan has instructed his office to undertake and commence activities on his behalf to help the underprivileged at this difficult time. Managing Director of AB Corp Ltd, Mr Rajesh Yadav is spearheading commendable work for the needy on behalf of Mr Bachchan.

He with the help of Haji Ali Trust and Pir Makhdum Saheb Trust started with the distribution of 4500 packets of cooked food on a daily basis since 28th March 2020 to till date on the various locations in Mumbai as stated hereunder -

Antop hill
Garib Nawaz Nagar
Babulnath Mandir
Worli lotus
Mahim dargah
Dharavi
Sion 90 feet road
Nargis Dutt Nagar Bandra

They have also distributed about 10,000 ration packets of dry ration to 10,000 families which would suffice each family ration requirement for a month. These recipients are only the poor and needy people.

Further, he and his team are now distributing 2000 dry food packets, 2000 water bottles and around 1200 slippers daily from 9th May 2020 to migrant workers who are leaving Mumbai for their native place.

Mr Rajesh Yadav also came with the idea of sending migrant workers by buses to Uttar Pradesh so with a lot of efforts they are finally sending more than 10 buses to UP this Thursday which would be flagged from Haji Ali.

Partnering with various agencies and local authorities, Mr Bachchan's office has distributed countless numbers of masks and sanitizers and also donated about more than 20000 PPE kits to hospitals, Police stations, BMC Offices and funeral places.

Tandav controversy: Supreme Court refuses to grant protection from arrest to makers; says freedom of speech is not absolute January 27, 2021 at 04:37PM

On Wednesday while hearing pleas seeking stay on FIRs against actors and producers of the web series Tandav , the Supreme Court said that freedom of speech is not absolute. A bench headed by Ashok Bhushan said that the petitioners should go to the high courts to seek quashing of these cases. The court also refused to grant protection from arrest to the makers of Tandav against whom FIRs have been filed. The case was heard by a bench of justices Ashok Bhushan, RS Reddy and MR Shah. Senior advocates Fali S Nariman, Mukul Rohatgi and Siddharth Luthra cited the recent judgement of the top court in Arnab Goswami's case during the hearing. "Is this way liberty should be protected in the country and FIRs are being filed across the country," Luthra said adding that the director of the web series, Ali Abbas Zafar, is being harassed. Paresh Rawal replaces Rishi Kapoor and resumes shoot for Sharmaji Namkeen June 30, 2021 at 04:06PM

As the Maharashtra government announced some ease in lockdown restrictions, many films have resumed their shoots. Late actor Rishi Kapoor's last film Sharmaji Namkeen has also gone on floors. Rishi played the central character in the movie and passed away on April 30, last year. His remaining portions of the film were taken over by veteran actor Paresh Rawal. Paresh Rawal started shooting for the remaining portions in March this year. However, with the second wave of the novel coronavirus, the shoot came to a halt again. According to a daily, Paresh Rawal has resumed the shoot for an important sequence at a school in Goregaon, Mumbai which also features Juhi Chawla and Satish Kaushik. The team along with Paresh Rawal will shoot for a week-long schedule, after which the movie will wrap up and go for the post-production process.
