Riteish Deshmukh turns director; Genelia Deshmukh to make her Marathi film debut December 08, 2021 at 04:31PM

 Riteish Deshmukh made his acting debut with the Hindi film Tujhe Meri Kasam in 2003. He was cast opposite Genelia D'Souza in the film. Now, almost twenty years later, Riteish will be taking charge from behind the camera as he turns director with the Marathi film Ved which means madness.

On Wednesday, Riteish took to his Twitter handle to share the poster of the film which will also star his wife and actress Genelia Deshmukh. The film will mark Genelia's return to the screen after a long break. "After being in front of the camera for 20 years, I take a big leap to stand behind it for the first time. As I direct my first Marathi film, I humbly ask you all for your good wishes and blessings. Be a part of this journey, be a part of this madness.  वेड (Madness)," Riteish wrote while sharing the poster of the film.


Presented by Mumbai Film Company, it is an Ajay-Atul musical. The film also stars Jiya Shankar apart from Riteish and Genelia Deshmukh. Genelia who has delivered hits in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam languages will be making her Marathi language debut with Ved.

Tandav controversy: Supreme Court refuses to grant protection from arrest to makers; says freedom of speech is not absolute January 27, 2021 at 04:37PM

On Wednesday while hearing pleas seeking stay on FIRs against actors and producers of the web series Tandav , the Supreme Court said that freedom of speech is not absolute. A bench headed by Ashok Bhushan said that the petitioners should go to the high courts to seek quashing of these cases. The court also refused to grant protection from arrest to the makers of Tandav against whom FIRs have been filed. The case was heard by a bench of justices Ashok Bhushan, RS Reddy and MR Shah. Senior advocates Fali S Nariman, Mukul Rohatgi and Siddharth Luthra cited the recent judgement of the top court in Arnab Goswami's case during the hearing. "Is this way liberty should be protected in the country and FIRs are being filed across the country," Luthra said adding that the director of the web series, Ali Abbas Zafar, is being harassed. Paresh Rawal replaces Rishi Kapoor and resumes shoot for Sharmaji Namkeen June 30, 2021 at 04:06PM

As the Maharashtra government announced some ease in lockdown restrictions, many films have resumed their shoots. Late actor Rishi Kapoor's last film Sharmaji Namkeen has also gone on floors. Rishi played the central character in the movie and passed away on April 30, last year. His remaining portions of the film were taken over by veteran actor Paresh Rawal. Paresh Rawal started shooting for the remaining portions in March this year. However, with the second wave of the novel coronavirus, the shoot came to a halt again. According to a daily, Paresh Rawal has resumed the shoot for an important sequence at a school in Goregaon, Mumbai which also features Juhi Chawla and Satish Kaushik. The team along with Paresh Rawal will shoot for a week-long schedule, after which the movie will wrap up and go for the post-production process.
